Girard’s Fuchsia Azalea is one of spring’s finest. Vibrant fuchsia blooms are just packed onto this mounding bush. A fairly low maintenance shrub, azaleas can be pruned to shape after they bloom.
Azaleas do best when planted with some shade during the hottest part of the afternoon. They should not be planted in hot, dry spots or places that get reflected afternoon sun (like against a south facing white wall). Good soil conditions are essential for evergreen azaleas. They thrive in moist, well-drained soil. When planting use an organic compost and raise slightly to prevent standing water.
