Silver Sword Azalea, in addition to its beautiful red blossoms, also stands out because of the unique, variegated foliage. This spreading, dwarf shrub grows slowly. The bush grows slowly to be 4 feet tall and wide with a more open shape. A fairly low maintenance shrub, azaleas can be pruned to shape after they bloom.
Azaleas do best when planted with some shade during the hottest part of the afternoon. They should not be planted in hot, dry spots or places that get reflected afternoon sun (like against a south facing white wall). Good soil conditions are essential for evergreen azaleas.
